I call it rambling rose...Here's
a close up of the effect, it looks very blue here but it isn't that
blue.
This was a horrible old wall panelling
with wallpaper made onto it. Removing it was sure to be a travesty!
So I first primed the wall with
a white latex primer, and then I used spackling compound to create a
very textured stucco or plaster look on all of the walls. I then painted
the entire thing a beautiful antique white.
Then I painted rosebuds, stems
and leaves on the dried surface with acrylic hobby paint. After it dried,
using antique white latex again, I lightly pounced on the roses with
a very slightly loaded sponge brush to give them an instant aged look.
After that was dry, I dragged light blue latex paint, then light pink
latex paint, and finally, a gold glaze. The effect is so beautiful!
Notice that I covered the switchplace
with a brocade ribbon that I used many places in my scheme.
