Complementary Color Schemes
A color which appears directly across from another color is called
its "complement". For instance, if you draw a straight line the full diameter between the colors you will draw a line between complements of each other.
Some complementary schemes:
- Violet and yellow
Main Points to Consider
- The background should be considered as the dominant color scheme,
the backdrop for everything else on the page.
- The graphics on the page should be bright and colorful if the
background is "quiet".
- If the background is busy, the graphics should be quiet.
- Backgrounds should be considered as a very dominant and important
part of the entire color scheme. The background will take up about 3/4 of
the space left over after you put your graphics and text in, and it shows
around the text. Notice that this background's two main
colors are red and green. The red is really red, and
the greens for the most part are muted. It's further
enhanced by the use of black.

- I believe that text should either be pure white or pure black. That's my
opinion though on this issue, there isn't any rule about it.
- Before you write the page, have a definite color scheme in mind.
Have the graphics and backgrounds coordinated.
