Jan's
2D & 3D Art
|
|
|
|
Since
the dawn of mankind, artists have sought out the tools that were available
to them, to express the images that danced in their imaginations. This page
represents the marriage of that same desire, shared by our ancestors, and
the technology of today. The artwork on this page was created with the latest
in digital software, and the presentation employs the latest in JavaScript,
Cascading Style Sheets, and Dynamic HTML technology. I hope the marriage
is a good one and gives you a measure of the enjoyment that it has given
to me to create it. |
| Thru the Looking Glass |
 |
If you could see beyond the Looking Glass to a world all strange and
new. Would you find someone to greet you there? Would you find another
you? Would you lose yourself in time and space, and rush to meet your
fate? Or would you turn and look behind. "Not now". "Not yet". "It's late".

| Hidden Cove |
 |
A Hidden Cove, known to only a few. Accessable by sea only by way of
a smallng in the cliff wall. This looks like a perfect place to
moor a small craft for a quiet day away from the rest of the world. Created
with POV-Ray and Photoshop

| See-Thru Mind |
 |
An excercise in multi-dimensional abstraction, See-Thru Mind takes you
in as many directions as the number of times that you view it. It is one
of those pieces that yields an infinite number of hidden images, just
waiting to be discovered. Created with POV-Ray
and Photoshop

| Winter Willow |
 |
On a crisp clear Winter evening, atop a hill covered in snow and ice
unmarred by a single foot fall, there stands a lone Willow tree lit by
the full moon. Divested of it's leaves it stands unprotected against the
chill. Waiting silently for the first sign of Spring. This image was created
using LParser,
Moray Modeller and POV-Ray.

| Lineshack |
 |
The Lineshack is my second attempt to integrate organic objects into
a 3D graphic. All of the 3D elements were created with POV-Ray,
and some touchups were done using Photoshop.
There seems to be a fire in the stove, so if you are cold, you can stop
by to warm up. Please don't cut down the trees though.

| Japanese Fishing Scow |
 |
The Japanese Scow was inspired by a photograph that I took while I lived
in Japan. It is early morning and there is a mist over the water of the
Sea of Japan, and a Fishing boat is anchored, waiting for the tide, as
sea birds wing over it's bow. Created entirely with Photoshop.

| Crystal Lagoon |
 |
Crystal shards of solid rock pierce the earths crust and reach skyward
toward the sun. The cool deep waters of the Lagoon below are shadowed
from the heat of the day and rimmed by greenery, which provides shelter
for the many creatures that live in the shallows, and in return draws
it's life from the waters. Created with POV-Ray
(Persistence of Vision Raytracing Software).

|
| Caverns Of Fire |
 |
Caverns can be a very hypnotic piece. It is at once mysterious and
engaging. The more you examine this work, the more you will be taken in
by it's hidden depths. Created with Photoshop.

| New Dawn |
 |
In deep space a lone spacecraft witnesses the dawn as the sun rises
over a distant planet. Cosmic dust from a nearby nebula causes the sun
to flare. This image was created with POV-Ray.
|
|
| Space |
 |
Created with Photoshop, this is the
vision of a planet deep in uncharted space and it's two moons. From our
vantage point we can see the sun just creeping over the horizon. The starfield
and nebulae were created with actions from Elated ActionKits.

| Blue Bell |
 |
Blue Bell is a tribute to my mother whose light still brightens my soul
even though she has gone from this world. The candle is extinguished,
the book lies closed and unfinished, and the bell lies on the floor sounding
no more. Created with POV-Ray.
|
|
| Crescent Moon |
 |
This is a very basic yet compelling image of a Crescent Moon. Created
with POV-Ray using an actual photograph
of the moon as an image map to cover the 3D rendered sphere. The lighting
was arranged to give the crescent effect.

| Chaos In Balance |
 |
Chaos is an earlier work using POV-Ray.
It represents a world balanced amid a chaotic universe. The three elements
of the tripod represent: Time, Space and Energy.
